Raised in South Wales, Jane’s wine journey began at university in France.
On her return to the UK, she based herself in London and started organising wine tastings for some of the biggest wine brains in the world. That’s where she cut her wine teeth, tasting with, and listening to, all the passionate boffins.
Her accumulated knowledge landed her various full-time editorial roles with drinks magazines before moving to Australia to work a vintage and then return as a freelance wine expert. This role included all the good stuff; penning books, writing national columns, organising festivals, judging, and along the way winning awards like the Chairman’s Award at the Louis Roederer International Wine Writers’ Awards and being crowned the International Wine & Spirit Competition’s Communicator of the Year.
She became a regular wine expert on BBC1’s Saturday Kitchen Live while continuing her combined roles as critic, broadcaster, host and festival organiser. And in the peak of WFH in lockdown, Jane fulfilled her long held dream of launching her own consumer lifestyle magazine, Cherry, a title that’s passionately devoted to all of us making better choices for our planet - one of Jane’s overarching approaches to all aspects of life, wine included.
In 2021 she moved to Somerset with her husband and daughter, where she continues to live the wine dream.
